Fair Housing

It is important to recognize and challenge discrimination on all fronts, including housing. Discrimination in housing is taken seriously at every level of government, and it is important to know the protections and resources all people are entitled to nationwide. The North Carolina Fair Housing Act makes it illegal to discriminate in housing because of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, physical or mental handicaps, or family status (families with children). The law applies to the sale, rental, or financing of residential housing. If you or someone you know may have experienced discrimination in housing or would like to learn more about your rights, protections, and resources please view this Fair Housing Document or Vivienda Justa En Español.

Do I Qualify for Housing Services?

Determining household income is the first step in qualifying for housing services. Start by selecting your household size to the right, and note your AMI percentage to see if you qualify for the needed program.
