About Development Projects

Information about applications reviewed by the Buncombe County Board of Adjustment and Planning Board can be found here. Application types include:

BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT

• Administrative Appeal
• Special Use Permits (Quasi-Judicial)
• Zoning Variances (Quasi-Judicial)

PLANNING BOARD

• Major Subdivisions (11 or more lots) (Administrative)
• Subdivision Variances (Quasi-Judicial)
• Map Amendments (Rezonings) (Legislative)
• Text Amendments (Legislative)

To find projects, click on an icon on the map, or use the filters or ‘Keyword Search’ bar above. Use the ‘Search by Address’ bar to type in your own address to see what development projects are nearby. To view detailed information about an application, click on the Project name in the list or on the map icon to visit the project’s page.

Please note that applications submitted prior to May 2020 are not visible in the Development Projects tool. For information about projects reviewed prior to May 2020, please contact the Planning & Development Department staff.
