Check Out a Hotspot at the Library

BCPL has hotspots you can check out free with your library card from any library. A hotspot is a portable device that connects to a cell phone network and provides free wifi internet access to computers, phones, or tablets. Library hotspots come with unlimited data.

Please contact your library to place a hold on a device to pick up.

  • 1 hotspot may be checked out per household
  • You must be 18 years or older to check out a device
  • You will need a Buncombe County library card
  • All devices are checked out for two weeks
  • You will need to sign a User Agreement at checkout
  • Devices must be returned inside the library, they may not be put in outdoor library drop boxes
  • Devices will be disabled when they are 1 week overdue
  • Devices will be considered lost when they are 10 days overdue
  • Lost/damaged item fees are as follows:
    • $30 if hotspot is lost or damaged
    • $20 if any power cord is lost or damaged

If you need help with your device, call 828-250-4700 during library hours to reach a member of the library Tech Team.
