Buncombe County will accept applications from qualified entities and organizations, which must be completed online at, for the administration and delivery of the following:

Affordable Housing Services Program:
Application Window 8:00 a.m. Monday, 12/12/22 – 5:00 p.m. Friday, 2/10/23

ARPA-FRF Home Repair Program:
Application Window 8:00 a.m. Friday, 1/13/23 – 5:00 p.m. Friday, 2/24/23

Affordable Housing

The Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) defines an “affordable dwelling” as one that a household can obtain for 30% percent or less of its income.

Buncombe County works in partnership with several non-profit housing agencies and local municipalities to assist with the creation of affordable housing opportunities.

Buncombe County works in partnership with several non-profit housing agencies in our community that specialize in assisting homeowners and tenants.

The North Carolina Fair Housing Act makes it illegal to discriminate in housing because of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, physical or mental handicaps, or family status (families with children).

The law applies to the sale, rental or financing of residential housing.
