Skills Training and Employment Program

The Skills, Training, and Education Program (STEP) allows all food and nutrition service recipients (ages 16 and older) the opportunity to take continuing education courses at A-B Tech at no cost. Tuition and fees, books, supplies, and testing are all covered by STEP.

STEP connects with clients on their individualized goals, and allows people on food assistance in Buncombe County to move towards the next level of their careers by paying all costs associated with client’s continuing education classes and by providing job search assistance through the STEP Career Resource Center.

STEP is a collaborative effort between A-B Tech and Buncombe County Health and Human Services. For more information on STEP, call (828) 250-5591 or email us at stepprogram@buncombecounty.org.
