Buncombe County Government offices will be closed on Monday, May 26 in observance of Memorial Day as Buncombe County honors Veterans who gave the ultimate sacrifice to support our country. A Memorial Day ceremony will take place at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery at 10 a.m. and can be viewed on the City of Asheville’s YouTube Channel at 3 p.m. See the attachment below for more information.

Buncombe County Animal Shelter
The Buncombe County Animal Shelter will be closed Monday, May 26.
Buncombe County Board of Elections
Administrative offices will be closed Monday, May 26.
City/County Bureau of Identification
The City/County Bureau of Identification administrative office will be closed Monday, May 26.
Buncombe County Courthouse
Buncombe County courts observe the North Carolina Judicial Branch holiday schedule and will be closed Monday, May 26.
Emergency Services & Public Safety Communications
Administrative offices will be closed Monday, May 26. EMS and 911 will maintain normal operations.
Government Services Center
The Government Services Center at 35 Woodfin St. which includes Asheville-Buncombe Air Quality Agency, Election Services, Environmental Health, Permits & Inspections, and Planning & Development will be closed on Monday, May 26.
Family Justice Center
The Family Justice Center will be closed Monday, May 26. You can find 24-hour hotline information on our website.
FCC Trash & Recycling Collections
FCC trash and recycling collections will be closed Monday, May 26 and will operate on a one-day collection delay for the rest of the week through Saturday. (Monday collection on Tuesday, etc.)
Health & Human Services
All BCHHS offices, including the Immunization Clinic will be closed Monday, May 26.
Helene Resource Center
The Helene Resource Center at 94 Coxe Ave. and the One Buncombe Call Center will be closed on Monday, May 26.
Libraries
All Buncombe County public libraries, according to their normal schedule, are closed on Monday, May 26. Access our digital resources at buncombecounty.org/library.
Mountain Mobility
Mountain Mobility is operating ADA paratransit service on Monday, May 26. No other trips will be served.
Register of Deeds
The Buncombe County Register of Deeds will be closed Monday, May 26. Online services will remain available.
Parks & Recreation
Administrative offices are closed on Monday, May 26. All Buncombe County parks are open regular hours. All five Buncombe County outdoor pools will open May 24-26 for Memorial Day weekend. Find more details here.

Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office front desk will be closed Monday, May 26. All other operations will be on a normal schedule.
Tax Collections/Property Assessment
The Tax Department is now located at 182 College St. and will be closed Monday, May 26.
