Proposed Revisions to Permit Fee Schedule
To all interested parties:
The Asheville-Buncombe Air Quality Agency (AB Air Quality Agency) announces a proposal to revise its permit fee schedule. The fee schedule is being revised in accordance with Buncombe County Government’s Reduce to Rebuild program, which reduces fees for building permits for repairs at residential structures caused by Tropical Storm Helene. The proposed revisions to the permit fee schedule and all information used to develop the proposed schedule are available for your review. This information is available at the offices of the Asheville-Buncombe Air Quality Agency, 35 Woodfin Street, Asheville, N.C. 28801. The current and proposed fees are also available for review on the Agency website at www.abairquality.org. If you require physical copies of these documents from the Agency office, a copying charge of 10 cents per page will be assessed. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. You can also request these documents via email at airquality@buncombecounty.org.
You are hereby notified of the opportunity to submit written public comments concerning the proposed revisions to the permit fee schedule. Anyone wishing to comment on the proposed schedule are required to submit their comments, in writing, to the AB Air Quality Agency. Comments must be received by the AB Air Quality Agency no later than June 13, 2025. All comments received on or prior to that date will be considered by the AB Air Quality Agency in making its final decision on the proposed revisions to the permit fee schedule. Written comments should be mailed to the Asheville-Buncombe Air Quality Agency, P.O. Box 2749, Asheville, NC 28802, or emailed to airquality@buncombecounty.org. If there is a significant amount of public interest in this matter, AB Air Quality Agency may hold a public hearing to receive oral or written comments on the proposed permit fee schedule revisions. In the event a public hearing is held, notice will be given (30) days in advance by the same source in which the public notice was published.
After the comment period has expired, AB Air Quality Agency will consider all comments, make any necessary changes, and issue a final regulation on the proposed revisions to the permit fee schedule. The final regulation will be available on the Agency website at www.abairquality.org. Copies of the final regulation, comments received, and any other relevant information will also be made available for public review during normal business hours at the Asheville address.
