Buncombe County Government offices will be closed Nov. 28-29. The County remains under a state of emergency, and some services like community showers, debris collection, and solid waste collection will have altered hours.
Holiday County Closure Schedule
Buncombe County Animal Shelter
The Buncombe County Animal Shelter will be closed Nov. 28-29.The Adoption Center will be closed on Thursday only.
Buncombe County Courthouse
Buncombe County courts observe the North Carolina Judicial Branch holiday schedule and will be closed Nov. 28-29.
Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office
Buncombe County Sheriff's Office front desk will be closed Nov. 28-29; all other operations will be on a normal schedule.
Community Care Stations
Community Care Stations offering showers, laundry, and more will be closed on Thursday and reopen on Friday.
Emergency Services & Public Safety Communications
Administrative offices will be closed Nov. 28-29. EMS and 911 will maintain normal operations.
Election Services
Election Services will be closed Nov. 28-29.

FEMA Disaster Recovery Center
The FEMA Disaster Recovery Center at the Asheville Mall will be closed Nov. 28–Dec. 1. All Disaster Recovery Centers will reopen at 8 a.m., Monday, Dec. 2.

Identification Bureau
The ID Bureau at 52 Coxe Ave., will be closed Nov. 28-29.
Mountain Mobility
Mountain Mobility will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28. Normal service will resume Friday, Nov. 29.
One Buncombe Call Center
The One Buncombe Call Center will be closed Nov. 28-29.
Parks & Recreation
Parks & Recreation administration offices will be closed Nov. 28-29. All Buncombe County parks including Buncombe County Sports Park, are closed on Thursday, Nov. 28. Public Libraries
All Buncombe County Public Libraries will be closed Nov. 28-30. Libraries are regularly closed Sunday and Monday and will reopen on Tuesday, Dec. 3. Fairview and Swannanoa Libraries remain closed. The digital library is always available at buncombecounty.org/library.
Register of Deeds
The Buncombe County Register of Deeds will be closed Nov. 28-29. Online services will remain available.
Solid Waste

Public right of way debris removal will continue in all zones.
Tetra Tech Private Property Debris Removal Program
Hours for property owners in unincorporated Buncombe, City of Asheville, and Town of Black Mountain wanting to apply to have qualified disaster debris removed from their private or commercial property or to apply for demolition of eligible unsafe structures:
- Asheville Mall, 8 a.m.-7 p.m., Mon.-Sat. – holiday closure Nov. 28-Dec. 1
- Fairview Library, 8 a.m.- 5 p.m., Tues.-Sat. – closed Thursday
- Swannanoa Fire Rescue, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Tues.-Sat. – closed Thursday
- Barnardsville Fire Station, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Tues.-Sat. – closed Thursday

Waste Pro Schedule
Waste Pro is closed Thursday, Nov. 28 and pick-up locations will be pushed back one day. Friday will be Fairview and Arden and Saturday will be Weaverville and Barnardsville. Please note, the Saturday drop-off location will only be open until 1 p.m.
Weekly schedule Nov. 25-30
Nov. 25-26: Waste Pro will operate normal routes for household trash and recycling. Residents should use the Transfer Station or Landfill if WastePro is unable to access them.
Nov. 27: Waste Pro will operate normal routes for household trash and recycling in accessible locations. Waste Pro will also be located at Hearts with Hands for residents they are not able to access from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Household bagged trash only. Hearts with Hands is located at 850 Warren Wilson Road, Swannanoa, NC 28778 at their circle drive near the entrance to the closed Owen Park.
Nov. 28: No Waste Pro routes or drop-off locations.
Nov. 29: Waste Pro will operate normal routes for household trash and recycling in Fairview and Arden in accessible locations. Waste Pro will also be located at the Ingles in Fairview for residents that are not able to access from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Household bagged trash only. Ingles Fairview is located at 225 Charlotte Highway, Asheville, NC 28803.
Nov. 30: Waste Pro will operate normal routes for household trash and recycling in Weaverville and Barnardsville in accessible locations. Waste Pro will also be located at the North Buncombe Pool for residents they are not able to access from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. North Buncombe Pool is located at 734 Clarks Chapel Road, Weaverville, NC 2878.
Water Distribution Sites
There will be no distribution of water or supplies on Thursday. They will reopen on Friday.
