Thank You To Our Age-Friendly Buncombe County Volunteers!

National Volunteer Month

April is National Volunteer Month and Volunteer Appreciation Month.  Age-Friendly Buncombe County would like to recognize and thank all our volunteers who provide their talents, knowledge, and experience in making Buncombe County a more livable community for older adults and people of all ages.  We could not do this important work without you!

Age-Friendly Buncombe County has workgroups aligned with AARP 8 Domains of Livability in which our volunteers contribute their time.  Workgroups overseen by and/or connected to Age-Friendly Buncombe County include:

  • Age-Friendly Advisory Committee
  • Asheville Buncombe Black Elders Engagement Project (ABBE)
  • Blue Ridge Pride Generation Plus
  • Dementia Friendly WNC
  • Elder Justice Coalition (EJC)
  • Experienced Workforce Initiative (EWI)
  • Home and Community Care Block Grant (HCCBG) Advisory Committee
  • Housing Options for Aging in Place (HOAP)

More workgroups will be forming in the second half of the year.  If you would like more information about these workgroups or you are interested in volunteering for Age-Friendly Buncombe County, please contact Billie Breeden, Age-Friendly Coordinator at billie.breeden@buncombecounty.org or call 828-767-4376.
