Buncombe Farmland Preservation Program Awarded More Than $250K

From Soil and Water Conservation:

In July 2019, the NCDA&CS Agricultural Development and Farmland Preservation Trust Fund awarded Buncombe County Soil and Water Conservation $263,305 to fund farmland conservation easements on two farms (William and Alice Hart and Carole and Walt Currie Farms) in the South Turkey Creek community of Buncombe County. This money will partially fund these two conservation easements with supplemental funding coming from USDA NRCS Agricultural Conservation Easement Program in 2020. This funding is protecting two sections of a NC Century Family Farm on 57 acres on South Turkey Creek in a perpetual farmland easements and 38 acres on South Turkey Creek in a perpetual conservation easement in order to protect the remainder of their family farm.
