Having served on the Board of Commissioners from 1988 until 2012, Commissioner Bill Stanley was the longest-serving member in our Board’s history.
As a former teacher and principal, he was a strong advocate for public education and continuing education in his personal and elected capacities. A veteran of the Marine Corps and U.S. Army, Mr. Stanley will be buried at the VA Cemetery in Black Mountain in a private ceremony.
