New Look, Same Helpful Resources: Buncombe County Set to Launch Updated Website

Here at Buncombe County Government, our Communications and Public Engagement team is always looking for ways to keep the public informed, and we know our website is one of the top ways you get news and information. In fact, a 2024 survey shows a majority of people appreciate how easy the County’s website is to use. With that in mind, we are excited to announce a newly retooled County website aimed at improving your online experience with our departments, programs, and services. But don’t worry, the new site will have the same basic look and navigation of the current site because we want the online experience to feel familiar.

The new website address will be BuncombeNC.gov and it is set to go live on June 17. Some of the updates include:

  • Transition to a .Gov domain. By using a .gov domain, this is one more way to identify official, trusted information.
  • New .GOV email addresses ensure credibility and legitimacy to the community and County partners.
  • For security and technical reasons, this switch gives the County exclusive access to protections and services only available for .GOV domains.
  • ADA compliance to assist users who have low to no vision and other disabilities.
  • More frequently updated content thanks to a back end that more staff members can access.
  • All the online portals, resources, and other information on our current website will be hosted on BuncombeNC.gov.
  • Sign up for notifications from departments and programs you are interested in.

So, what do members of the public need to do? Nothing, other than bookmarking our new BuncombeNC.gov address. All the current (soon to be old) links will automatically redirect to our new site. We just wanted to inform you that our web address is officially changing and you might notice a slightly different look along with some minor changes as you navigate Buncombe County’s website. If you do have trouble or can’t find information that was on the old website, please contact us via Let’s Talk and our team will look into the issue. We’re excited to start this new chapter in County communications and look forward to seeing you over at BuncombeNC.gov
