Representative Search: Public Safety Communications Steering Committee

Buncombe County is seeking a dedicated and engaged Community Representative to serve on the Public Safety Communications Steering Committee (CSC).

This is a two-year volunteer position that plays a vital role in shaping the operations and performance oversight of the county’s 911 call center.

The CSC meets at least quarterly to:

  • Review 911 performance and compliance data
  • Address questions, operational issues, and agency disputes
  • Discuss and provide recommendations on 911 operations and strategy

The Community Representative will be selected through a competitive application process. Final selection will be made by CSC members through a majority vote.

Ideal Candidate Qualities:

  • Resides in Buncombe County
  • Has a strong interest in public safety and community service
  • Brings a collaborative and solutions-focused perspective
  • Willing to attend quarterly meetings and engage in public dialogue
