Buncombe County Celebrates Treatment Court Successes on May 30

You are invited to attend a celebration of Buncombe County’s Treatment Courts, which have assisted people with recovery-based intervention since 2000. The event will be on May 30, from 12:45 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Buncombe County Courthouse.

At this celebration, participants will hear from speakers from each court, including a judge and a former participant sharing their experience and successes.

Buncombe County has three treatment courts: Adult Drug Treatment Court, ASPIRE Court, and Veterans Treatment Court, providing wellness and stability to people living with substance use and mental health disorders.

A U.S. Department of Justice study found that treatment courts reduce crime by an average of 58%, showing the success of these programs to provide an alternative to incarceration that breaks the cycle of crime and addiction and improves lives, saves taxpayer dollars, and reunites families.

May is National Treatment Court Month, and this event is an opportunity to recognize individuals whose lives have been transformed by the treatment and support provided by the program.

Buncombe County invites members of the public, justice system partners, elected officials, county leaders, law enforcement, family and friends, and current and former participants.
