Planning & Development Moves to 35 Woodfin St. on April 22

Starting Tuesday, April 22, Buncombe County Planning & Development will join Permits & Inspections, Asheville-Buncombe Air Quality Agency, and Environmental Health in the new consolidated Government Services Center located at 35 Woodfin St. in downtown Asheville. This move is one more step in the multi-year comprehensive facilities plan, reimagining the building at 35 Woodfin St. The Family Justice Center is also located in the same building with a separate entrance.

Pardon our dust

Planning & Development is currently located at 46 Valley St., and as of Tuesday, April 22 at 8 a.m. will move all services to 35 Woodfin St. Visitors may park in the surface parking lot in front of the building.   

While we are moving, some residents may want to take advantage of different ways to contact us.

Background

This move is part of a multi-year comprehensive facilities plan aimed at maximizing our existing space, co-locating forward-facing departments to improve the resident experience, and reducing the number of unnecessary properties from our portfolio. This move will save taxpayer dollars, allow properties to be used to address housing needs, and reimagine how the County’s public-facing departments meet the needs of our community. The Buncombe County Tax Department (Assessment and Collections) is now co-located with a separate entrance at 182 College St. Services now offered at 35 Woodfin St.:
