The Buncombe County Library Advisory Board, the Trust Fund for Buncombe County Public Libraries, and Friends of Buncombe County Libraries are groups dedicated to the advocacy and support of the Buncombe County Public Libraries. As advocates for our libraries we continually champion the value they provide for Buncombe County citizens.
Libraries are more than repositories of books available to the public. They are also safe environments for engagement, learning, community, and discovery for all.
Temporarily reducing access to library resources is a devastating decision. However we commend the thoughtful approach taken by the Library administration to make data driven decisions balancing the need to keep all libraries open, youth and literacy programming intact at all locations, and maintaining safe facilities for staff and visitors. We applaud the tremendous efforts of library staff to demonstrate a continued welcoming posture in the midst of significant adversity.
We will zealously advocate for a speedy restoration of the Library’s budget and will continue to advocate for increased resources for our libraries in the years ahead.
