Pack Memorial Library is offering free classes on sign language for beginners and intermediate learners on Aug. 27.
The beginner's ASL class at 5:30 p.m. will focus on ASL foundations such as fingerspelling, numbers, conversational signs, and Deaf Culture
The intermediate ASL class at 6:45 p.m. is geared towards those who already have some ASL knowledge and are looking to further their skills and delve deeper into critical Deaf Culture topics.
These classes are open to ALL people, hearing, Deaf, and hard of hearing. For more information, contact Jen Waite at Pack Library.
About the instructor:
Hope Turpin Turner is an ASL educator and Deaf advocate. Now pursuing her doctoral degree in Deaf Studies at Lamar University, she continues to teach ASL at various venues in hopes of sharing her passion for this beautiful visual language and educating people on the value of inclusion and accessibility through ASL exposure.
