Buncombe County Juneteenth Holiday Schedule

a graphic that says Juneteenth, freedom day, june 19, 1865

On Thursday, June 19, Buncombe County offices will be closed in observance of the Juneteenth holiday. In order to stay in sync with federal and city partners, Buncombe County moved to have the Juneteenth holiday observed with the federal date of observation. Pausing for the Juneteenth holiday helps raise awareness about the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Buncombe County is honored to commemorate this important date in history.
