Valuation Notices in the Mail for Some Property Owners

blue background with graphic of houses

Buncombe County Property Assessment is mailing valuation notices to some property owners. Every year, our office reviews property owners who have made physical changes to their property during the prior year, and owners are notified of changes to their taxable value, typically during the month of March. Physical changes are defined as building permit activity, parcel split, combinations of land or acreage adjustment, etc.

If you receive this letter please note this is not a bill. If you agree with the notification provided you do not have to do anything. Property owners have the right to appeal the value of their property, or a decision made concerning their property, by our office. If you would like to submit an appeal, your completed appeal form must be returned to our office within 30 days of your notice.

Start the online appeal process at tax.buncombecounty.org or call (828) 250-4940 to request an appeal form or additional information. Want to understand your value? Give us a call, we’re happy to help.
