Going Green: Join Buncombe Parks & Recreation for an Informational Greenways Bond Public Meeting

Passed by Buncombe County voters in November 2022, the $30 million Open Space Bond will fund projects that preserve the natural beauty of Buncombe County and improve access to recreational activities. The bond will fund three types of projects: conservation of lands, construction of greenways, and development of passive recreation lands.

Buncombe County is inviting the public to our first greenways community meeting to learn about the greenways bond, greenways criteria, and a preliminary timeline for when bond projects will take place. Please join us at Community High School in Swannanoa or attend virtually to share your input on the greenways criteria and how you would like to see greenway projects selected. Parks & Recreation staff will provide updates on two existing greenway projects: the Woodfin Greenway and the Enka Heritage Trail.

Attend this special meeting in-person or virtually and contribute your thoughts on the greenways criteria.

Greenways Criteria Development Public Meeting

When: Wednesday, March 15, 5:30 p.m.

Where: Community High School, U.S. 70, Swannanoa, NC (in the Media Center)

The County is seeking public feedback on a list of draft criteria. Criteria will be used in the future by the Parks, Greenway, and Recreation Advisory Board to evaluate greenway project proposals. Your voice could help shape the kinds of greenway projects that take place in Buncombe County.
