Funding Opportunity: Community Development Issues Request for Home Repair Project Proposals

Is your organization prepared to take on home repair projects in our community? Buncombe County’s Community Development (CD) Division is issuing a request for home repair project proposals.

The CD Division’s home repair project will serve to meet specific affordable housing goals. The expanded program will be funded by ARPA Federal Relief Funds received by the County and will create more home repair opportunities through a subaward to a partner (or partners) who will directly assist income eligible residents.

“We’re looking for qualified organizations that will help us expand Buncombe County’s home repair work,” says Community Development Division Manager, Matt Cable. “The new program will allow partners to identify issues in homes that affect the health, safety, and well-being of residents where such repair costs would approach $30,000 per residence. This increased allocation per residence will provide for more comprehensive repairs beyond immediate emergency repairs.”

The program is intended to improve the lives of the County’s low- and moderate-income households with the health, safety, and energy efficiency of their homes, while increasing the quality of the overall housing stock in the community.

If your agency is interested, the CD Division will begin accepting applications on Friday, Jan. 13, 2023, from qualified organizations. The deadline for submission of project proposal applications is Friday, Feb. 24, 2023, at 5 p.m. Applications must be completed online at www.buncombecounty.org/apply. Applicants must be capable of delivering proposed projects in accordance with federal and local requirements and guidelines.
