Commissioners Moore, Edwards, and Whitesides

During the Dec. 5, 2022, Buncombe County Commissioners briefing meeting, newly elected District 2 Commissioner Martin Moore and re-elected incumbent Commissioners Al Whitesides and Amanda Edwards were sworn in.

Newly redrawn and adopted district maps mean that incumbent Commissioner Amanda Edwards will serve this term in District 3. Commissioner Whitesides will serve District 1 for this term.

At their regular meeting, the Board elected Commissioner Terri Wells as Vice Chair for the next year.

The Buncombe County Board of Commissioners is the chief legislative body in Buncombe County. It meets the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 5 p.m., for the regular meeting and is usually preceded by a briefing meeting at 3 p.m. The Commission Chamber is located in room 326 of the Buncombe County Administration Building at 200 College St.

There will not be a second regular meeting in December and the Board will hold a budget workshop on Tuesday, Dec. 13, starting at 10 a.m., at the East Asheville Library. The workshop will also be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/BuncombeGov.
