“The Annual Veterans Day Ceremony is a powerful reminder that the lives we live and the freedoms we enjoy come at a cost,” says Heath Smith, Director of Buncombe County Veterans Services. Heath continues, “Those on Active Duty, Veterans, and the many service members who lost their lives have paid the price for our privileges as citizens of the United States and it is an honor to reflect on their sacrifice and my gratitude every November 11th.”
All Buncombe County Residents are invited to virtually Annual Veterans Day Ceremony hosted by The Charles George VA Medical Center on November 11th. This event will be posted to the City of Asheville Youtube Channel by 2 PM for residents to enjoy from their own homes. The keynote speaker is Jeff Miller, Co-Founder of Honor Flight Network and Founder of Blue Ridge Honor Flight. Mr. Miller will share a story of dedication to honor those who have served our Country and will be followed by readings from the Brothers and Sisters Like These writing group. This year’s Ceremony is sponsored by the Veterans Council, The City of Asheville, and the US Department of Veterans Affairs.
