Buncombe County Sports Park Upgrades Restroom Facilities

We've got some great news that definitely does not stink. So don't call us potty-mouthed because we want to talk about toilets. Specifically, our fabulous new toilets and bathrooms (seen above) at the Buncombe County Sports Park. “Park attendance has increased over the past few years, so the need for additional restrooms in closer proximity to ball fields and new outdoor amenities, such as the recently completed dog park, was needed,” explains Recreation Services Program Manager Lynn Pegg.

The building is a precast concrete durable restroom used at federal, state, county, city, and private recreational sites nationwide. This modular unit is easy to install, and with labor shortages, supply chain issues, and long material lead times, this type of product helps with implementing those smaller but oh-so-important projects. “Our General Services staff was instrumental in getting this facility to the Sports Park. The plumbing and site preparation work was also completed by County staff,” notes Pegg. “Without their expertise and knowledge, the bathroom facility would have taken several more months to be in place. This new modular building is a first for Buncombe County.”

The location of the bathroom will also allow community garden and tree nursery volunteers and dog park visitors to have a nearby restroom without having to go to the hub of the Sports Park. Happy flushing!
