Please be aware: The Forest Service is continuing a prescribed burn in parts of the Pisgah National Forest in Transylvania County on March 22, and we may see smoke in the air in South Buncombe and Asheville areas.
Our 911 Call Center asks that people only call 911 if they see flames.
Do you have health issues? The Environment Protection Agency suggests: Use common sense to guide your activities. Even if you don’t have a monitor in your area, if it looks or smells smoky outside, it's probably not a good time to mow the lawn or go for a run. And it's probably not a good time for children - especially children with asthma - to be vigorously active outdoors, or active outdoors for prolonged periods of time. If you are active outdoors, pay attention to symptoms. Symptoms are an indication that you need to reduce exposure.
If you smell smoke, consider limiting your outdoor activities. Learn more at https://www.epa.gov/pm-pollution/how-smoke-fires-can-affect-your-health
