Employee Spotlight: County Manager Avril Pinder Honored by Land of Sky Regional Council

In recognition of her support and collaboration with the Land of Sky Regional Council, Buncombe County Manager Avril Pinder is being honored with the Robert C. Parrish, Senior Intergovernmental Relations Award. Noting her leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic and ability to coordinate with local and regional governments, Land of Sky representatives state: “[Avril] Pinder’s commitment to local government excellence in North Carolina is second to none. Her leadership on behalf of the region has been critical in extraordinary times.”

The award was announced earlier this month, and Avril was officially recognized by the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners on Dec. 7. Commissioner Terri Wells said, “Avril was nominated not only because she led the region’s largest local government during the pandemic with unprecedented challenges. Additionally, she has helped lead regional collaboration among the Council’s local governments, especially with the City of Asheville but also including the smaller municipalities in the county and with other counties in the region.”

Buncombe County is proud of Avril’s leadership and excited to help Land of Sky Regional Council recognize her for this outstanding achievement.
