Hominy Creek Comfort Makers at the Enka-Candler Library

The Enka-Candler Library has a new makers group, the Hominy Creek Comfort Makers. If you can sew on a machine, hand sew, crochet, knit, or stuff a pillow, the Comfort Makers can use your help. Sewers, knitters, menders…all are welcome.

Prior to COVID, the Comfort Makers had monthly stitching sessions at the Enka-Candler Library. Due to the Delta variant, this resourceful group is not currently meeting in the community room, but are meeting outside in the library parking lot. The next parking lot pickup and drop off day will be Saturday, October 23 at 11am. You can drop off anything that you’ve made, and pick up the supplies for your next project.

The Comfort Makers will be working on projects that provide comfort items to anyone struggling. Comfort items may include but are not limited to quilts, crocheted or knitted blankets, hospice pillows, chemo port pillows and beanies/hats. The library has a table set up indoors all month-long as a drop-off and pick-up location for materials, kits, and finished projects.

If this is a cause that interests you, let the Enka Library know! Materials are available at the assigned table, but also feel free to ask more about this program at the front desk or give the library a call at 828-250-4758. Follow the Comfort Makers on Facebook here.
