Congratulations to our very own Commissioner Jasmine Beach-Ferrara, Buncombe County Commissioner who was awarded the Outstanding County Commissioner Award from the N.C. Association of County Commissioners on Aug. 14.
She was recognized along with four other North Carolina commissioners for their contributions as members of the opioid settlement working group, also known as the 555 committee. North Carolina stands to receive $750 million from the settlement, and the committee’s work was instrumental in developing the historic statewide Memorandum of Agreement on the use of those funds. The award honors the recipients’ work on behalf of counties beyond their own county boundaries.
