Area schools will be communicating directly with families and staff regarding COVID-19 cases associated with a school building or school activity. Please see the NCDHHS dashboard for clusters in educational settings. In a childcare or school setting, a COVID-19 cluster is defined as a minimum of five confirmed diagnostic cases with illness onsets or initial positive results within a 14-day period and plausible epidemiologic linkage between cases. Child care or school settings with less than 10 children or staff are not included to protect confidentiality.
Please reference the StrongSchoolsNC Public Health Toolkit (K-12) for more information on prevention and mitigation measures in the school setting. If you have questions about COVID-19 protocols in your school, please contact your school administration.
