Welcome to Justice Services: An Introduction from Director Tiffany Iheanacho

I’m excited to welcome you to Buncombe County’s new Justice Services website. During a recent restructuring, the County created its new Justice Services department to better align multiple resources with similar missions. This strategic move allows for a more unified approach to a central goal of helping our community with justice-oriented services and resources. In an effort to increase efficiency, collaboration, and coordination, we provide policy and planning support to many local criminal justice agencies.

The goal of Justice Services is to offer diversion opportunities and other resources that alleviate the strain on our court systems while providing alternative ways forward to individuals involved in the justice system. These services include our four treatments courts and three diversion programs. Our department also provides a vast array of resources for anyone experiencing intimate partner violence with services available at the Family Justice Center. My staff and I are passionate about this work and making sure agencies within our criminal justice system have the resources they need to help ensure public safety, change lives, and support the County’s strategic plan.

Justice Services is committed to excellent service delivering, positively affecting lives, and rethinking justice. As the nation and communities reconsider what justice looks like and how we can decrease jail populations and court dockets, we are proud to be an established and innovative department on the forefront of that work.

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about this new department. My staff and I look forward to engaging with the community in meaningful ways. Our services are listed below, and please feel free to contact us at (828) 250-4089 or jrc@BuncombeCounty.org.
