Buncombe County Landfill Hosts SWANA Quad State Conference Demo Day

Watch the B60 below.

Solid waste and landfill experts from four states gathered recently in Buncombe County for the Solid Waste Association of North America’s (SWANA) Quad State Trade Conference. Buncombe County Solid Waste is a leader in the industry and we had the opportunity to showcase our state-of-the-art Landfill and Transfer Station.

“Our Landfill was a great venue to showcase the latest technologies and equipment for representatives from across the industry,” notes Assistant County Manager Sybil Tate. Almost a dozen heavy equipment vendors, including Carolina CAT, BobCat, John Deere, and others used the Landfill’s terrain for a demonstration of the latest compactors, excavators, dozers, and dump trucks. District 2 Commissioner Amanda Edwards joined in the excitement, taking a spin in a giant compactor. Raymond Hoffman, Chair of NCSWANA’s Technical Committee expressed his appreciation to Buncombe County for hosting. “This landfill is well-run, in great shape, and has a lot of things going on here. I would rate it in the top 10 in the North Carolina.”

The SWANA hosts several conferences and events throughout the year providing members and other industry professionals the opportunity to meet with their peers, share ideas, and discuss solutions. We are proud to play a role in their commitment to excellence in the solid waste field.
