From Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity:
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (April 23, 2019) – Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity is seeking six AmeriCorps members for a year-long service opportunity beginning in August. Positions are Volunteer Services Coordinator (1), Construction Crew Leader (4) and Family Services Development VISTA (1). Members will receive a living allowance and other benefits. Those with a passion for affordable housing, an adventurous spirit, strong teambuilding skills, and a sincere desire to serve others are encouraged to apply.
At Asheville Habitat, AmeriCorps members play an important role in providing leadership on project sites, engaging volunteers to become champions for the mission, and creating new tools and systems to build capacity. During a year of service with Asheville Habitat, members gain insight into a non-profit organization and receive hands-on experience in leadership, team building, public speaking, and community development.
“The beauty of AmeriCorps is you dive into a project for a whole year and get to really connect with the community, with project you’re doing…it gives you that warm fuzzy feeling in your heart, when you get to help people,” said Emily Stevens, an AmeriCorps member who is now on staff as a full-time Construction Supervisor.
