You don’t need a telescope to see how far-out Pack Memorial Library is; but did you know you can check out telescopes at Pack? While you ponder exploring the distant cosmos, you should also consider the nearby galaxy of resources available at Pack.
“We have the largest paper book collection of any public library. We also have three meeting spaces that can be rented, one with a grand piano,” notes Library Associate Tammy Silver. Along with books, there’s plenty of movies, music, audiobooks, and more to keep you entertained.
If you’re looking to supplement your current extracurricular activities or engage with some new hobbies, there about 30 free programs and activities every month such as:
- Dungeons & Dragons for Teens.
- Lego building.
- Drone racing.
- Ballet classes.
- Basic computer skills.
- Science exhibits from Asheville Museum of Science.
- Beginner’s Spanish class.
- Jazz sessions.
- Story times for toddlers, babies, and preschoolers.
- Movies with popcorn and drinks.
- An entire calendar of programs and events.
But wait… there’s more. Did you know there’s a used bookstore at Pack? “Bookends is run by a group of volunteers called the Friends of the Library. All of the proceeds go back to the library and it's the cheapest book store in town,” says Library Associate Erin Makara.
