Gardening in the Mountain Series
February 17 from 10 a.m. - noon
Pruning requires practice and many homeowners and gardeners are uncertain about when, why and how to prune shrubs and trees. The public is invited to join Cooperative Extension’s Master Gardener Volunteer Alan Wagner for a free demonstration, “All about Pruning – Tool Selection and Tool Sharpening.”
Pruning in the landscape requires different methods than pruning tomatoes or bonsai, it requires time-tested technique, good sharp tools, and knowledge of the right time to prune different kinds of plants. Join Wagner as he demonstrates the tools, techniques and principles of pruning shrubs and small trees. If weather permits, some outdoor demonstrations may be possible. There will also be a session on how to sharpen your pruning tools, so be sure to bring them with you.
The demonstration will be offered February 17 from 10 a.m. – noon at the NC Cooperative Extension Buncombe County Center at 49 Mt. Carmel Road. There is no cost for the event, please call 828-255-5522 to register.
