The Buncombe County Board of Elections has voted to appoint Joyce Kanavel as Interim Director of Election Services. Joyce joined Buncombe County as a part-time employee in 2008. In 2010, she accepted a position as Voter Registration Specialist and has worked for the County for 11 years.

A major priority is getting ready for the upcoming presidential election in 2020. "Candidate filing is in December. That begins the election process with early voting just around the corner in February. This election will likely see the largest turnout ever, and Buncombe County will be ready," notes Joyce.
