The Annual Heat Relief program at the Council on Aging of Buncombe County is now accepting requests for heat relief assistance at (828) 277-8288.
Fans are available to any Buncombe County resident aged 60 and older or to persons under age 60 who have a disabling health condition. The Council has 145 fans available for distribution.
Air conditioners are available, but limited. Air conditioners are accessible only to persons aged 60 and older and a doctor’s note is required. The use of air conditioners significantly increases utility cost.
