Tuesday, May 28 at 8:00 pm, Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office Animal Services deputies responded to an animal bite call at 34 Wedgefield Place. An eight year old autistic boy staying at the Roadway Inn and Suites wandered to the residence where four Hound dogs were held. Neighbors heard a disturbance and called 911; another neighbor went into the yard and removed the dogs from the child.
The yard where the dogs were being held is fenced in, and the dogs’ owner appears to be in compliance with all local ordinances and state laws. The dogs will be held at the Buncombe County Animal Shelter for a 10 day quarantine period. The child was transported to Mission Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
