The Sky is the Limit with the Summer Reading Program

The Buncombe County Public Library System wants to encourage continued literacy for youth throughout their summer vacation with the Summer Reading Program.

The theme for the 2019 Summer Reading Program is “A Universe of Stories,” celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. After the opening party at the Oakley/South Asheville Library, fun space-themed events will take place at all the branch libraries throughout the entire summer. Here are a few highlighted events taking place throughout the Summer Reading Program (they may not all be space-themed, but you’re welcome to dress up like an alien to anything you like):

For every four stamps that a child gets, they may choose a free book from a special selection of prize books chosen by the Youth Services librarians. You can even pick up a book on anti-gravity - they’re impossible to put down.

So, keep reading, and keep visiting the library. Keep track of all the great programs taking place at each branch library throughout the year by checking out their calendar at Check out June's schedule of events below.
