Tax Bills Go Out This Week

The Buncombe County Tax Office will put property tax bills in the mail on or before August 22. Payment is due on September 1, 2008, but bills don’t become past due until January 6, 2009.

Questions? Call 250-4910 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays or check the "How Do I" page for more information about payment options. You can pay:

  • By Mail: Mail your check using the return envelope. (Be sure to include your bill # on your check)
  • In Person: Tax Collector’s Office, Room 320,3rd Floor, Buncombe County Courthouse
  • Drop Box: Place your check or money order in our drive-up payment box located at the Buncombe County Health Center, 35 Woodfin Street. The payment box is located on the driver’s side of the driveway as you exit the Health Center.
  • Credit Card by phone or online: (See Instructions on the back of the tax bill.)
  • E-check online: (visit buncombetax.org)
  • Bank Draft: Start early and have a set amount deducted from your checking/savings account each month using our preauthorized debit program.
  • Payment Plans: The Tax Office accepts payments anytime and customized payment plans can be set up provided that the taxpayer calls before the bill becomes past due.
  • Prepayments are accepted at anytime before the bill is actually mailed. Many people use this as a budgeting tool and pay monthly payments starting in January before the bill is mailed in August.
