General Services Receives National Recognition

Progress on our new General Services Complex is moving forward and we are excited to share that General Services was recently recognized as one of the top Green Garage fleets in 2023.

A recent NAFA Fleet Management Association Green Garage Contest honored those teams putting best practices to use, going beyond the everyday paper and metal recycling. The concept was to highlight teams using green garage practices when designing new facilities and we are happy to say that Buncombe County General Services ranked seventh nationally.

“We are extremely excited to place in the top 10 of a nationwide contest,” says Project Manager Scott Metcalf.  “This award shows that our strategic plans have us ranked with top municipalities in the country. We are extremely proud of the accomplishments of the project team.”

The new facility is the first to be designed and built to the new high performance building standards set by the Board of Commissioners Resolution Adopting Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Standards. Congratulations to General Services and the entire design team for this recognition.
