Volunteer Opportunity: Be a Local Leader

Are you a Buncombe County resident? Does local government interest you? Buncombe County invites you to participate in your local government by volunteering for service on a board, commission, or committee. Join the team of more than 2,000 County employees, elected officials, and other volunteers that work to improve our community.

Boards, committees, and commission members aid the governing process by keeping Buncombe County in touch with the ideas and attitudes of its citizens. They help provide direction for the allocation of funds, the provision of human services, and the protection of citizens, property, and our natural resources. Your input is vitally important to the success of our County.

Current vacancies include an ongoing need for Nursing Home and Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committees; an Optometrist and Dentist position for Health and Human Services Board, Women's Commission, Land Conservation Board, and Historic Resources Commission.
