County Blood Drive - January 18

There was a serious crash involving a tractor trailer and a church van in Transylvania County on December 21, which completely depleted the Red Save a life, give blood.Cross' supply of O negative blood in the Asheville area.

It's important to remember that a serious crash could happen at any time, anywhere - and we want to make sure blood is available when patients need it. While all blood types are needed, type O negative is always in high demand, as it can be transfused to anyone in an emergency situation like this.

Every two seconds someone in the US needs blood. Blood and platelets can be used for trauma victims – due to accidents and burns – heart surgery patients, organ transplant patients, premature babies, when there are complications during childbirth, and for patients receiving treatment for leukemia, cancer or other diseases, such as sickle cell disease.

Can you help? Please come to Buncombe County Government’s blood drive and donate. Every pint of blood a donor gives can save three lives.

This drive is open to anyone qualified to give and it only takes around an hour.
