Fire Investigations

The Buncombe County Fire Marshal’s Office is responsible for all fire investigations within Buncombe County when requested by the local fire departments, with the exception of the City of Asheville.

Information on Street Names and Sign Installation

New street names are assigned and approved through Buncombe County Planning and must go through their process before signs can be ordered. Replacement signs can be ordered through Buncombe County Planning or the Buncombe County Fire Marshal’s Office. It will normally take two to three months to receive the signs once the order is placed, there is a fee of $45.00 (in the form of a check made out to Buncombe County Government) for signs being installed on private roads. This includes the sign, hardware and installation fees. Once the signs have been received, they will be installed as soon as possible.
