Buncombe Names New General Services Director

Buncombe County is pleased to announce Mike Mace is now our General Services Director. His previous experience as Facility Director for Mission Health System had him overseeing 10 managers, more than 115 full-time staff members, and more than four million square feet of property. Prior to Mission, he served as President at M.A.M. Enterprise, Inc., a commercial, residential, and industrial construction company located in Morganton, NC.

His broad experience in facility and general services management makes him a good fit for Buncombe County, notes Assistant County Manager Jim Holland. “Mike brings a depth of experience and management in the general services and facility world that will continue to support the work of our County and the great staff in General Services. We’re looking forward to continued excellence moving forward.”

Mike was born and raised in Buncombe County and has spent most of his life here. “It is a privilege to be working for this great community. I look forward to building strong working relationships with other County employees, maintaining County investments, and serving Buncombe County with integrity and pride,” states Mike.

As General Services Director, Mike will provide administrative and supervisory direction over County buildings and facilities, which includes approximately two million square feet of building space and close to 750 acres of grounds maintenance. He will also ensure fleet readiness and provide design and construction administration for all County construction and renovation projects, external agency projects with County oversight, and all publicly bid projects.

We welcome Mike to Buncombe County.
