The Sand Hill Community Garden is off to a great start this year, but as 
always, they can use more volunteers.
The County was thrilled to recently receive a donation of onion sets, okra and fall cover crop seeds from Johnny's Seeds. This will help the volunteer gardeners meet the purpose of the community garden, to supply fresh vegetables for MANNA Food Bank. Garden helpers have the satisfaction of helping MANNA Food Bank feed the hungry in Buncombe County and they are rewarded for their time and hard work with seasonal vegetables for their personal use. 10% of each harvest is donated to MANNA Food Bank and the rest is distributed among volunteers.
The Sand Hill Community Garden is located next to the Sand Hill - Venable Elementary School at the Buncombe County Sports Park. Stop by and see what’s growing!
