Asheville-Buncombe GradNation Community Summit

Please join us at the Asheville-Buncombe GradNation Community Summit on Thursday, March 12 from 8 am - 1 pm at Kimmel Arena - UNC Asheville.

GradNation Community SummitWhat is this event about and why should you come? High school graduation is critical to the health and economic security of each student, family and, in turn, the whole community. The importance of the middle school years on the journey toward graduation cannot be overstated.

If a middle school student falls behind on their attendance, gets two or more behavioral referrals, or fails course completion in either Math or English, without intervention, their chances of graduating drops to 25%. This is an unacceptable statistic and it is within our power to change it. Every young person deserves an equal opportunity to reach his or her fullest potential; graduating from high school prepared for college, career and citizenship.

Teachers and families can't do this alone. School-community partnerships, like the ones we will discuss at the summit, are essential to providing students with challenging and motivating opportunities they need to be successful. At this event, we will learn about innovative and effective approaches being used across our country, share more about the work already underway in our community and work together to identify concrete next steps.

Please pass this invitation on to your friends, colleagues and neighbors.
Together, we can support each of our young people in reaching his or her fullest potential; graduating from high school prepared for college, career and citizenship.
