Buncombe County Wins 6 Awards of Excellence

Buncombe County Government received 6  Excellence in Communication Awards during the North Carolina City & County Communicators’ (NC3C) annual conference. The awards were presented Thursday, March 20 in Dare County.

This year’s award ceremony showcased the best of the best in communications in North Carolina including special events, videos and printed communications.

Buncombe County received six awards:

• Two First Place wins in the category of TV Interview/Talk Show for
  • "Buncombe Life - Heart Health" special thanks to Mission Health who helped with this video
  • "Forever Free" story of slave deeds
• First & Second Place in the category of Public Service Announcements respectively for
  • Tip and Toss Mosquito Prevention 
  • Prescription Drug Theft special thanks to the Council on Aging who helped with this video
• First Place in the category of Promotional Video for
  • Detention Recruitment
• Second Place in the category of Publication for
  • Buncombe Life Magazine, Spring 2013

Judges for the NC3C Excellence in Communications Awards were government communication professionals from Missouri, Florida, Texas, Colorado and Tennessee.  Each judge had previously won first or second-place in the national Savvy Awards, presented annually by the City-County Communications and Marketing Association.

The purpose of North Carolina City & County Communicators is to encourage professional development and networking among local governmental communications professionals. The organization is made up of government professional communicators from around the state.
