Sign Up for Sand Volleyball

Soak up the summer sun on a soft sand volleyball court every Tuesday, June 18-Aug. 13. Registration for Buncombe County Recreation Services’ (BCRS) popular coed Adult Volleyball League has opened and players who sign up by Tuesday, May 28, save $10. Players may register as a free agent, small group, or full team consisting of at least six teammates. All games will be played on Tuesday evenings at Buncombe County Sports Park (58 Apac Circle in Asheville). Matches will use a staggered start schedule from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

“Our adult sport leagues – which also include kickball and indoor dodgeball – are a great way to stay healthy, stay social, and enjoy healthy competition, no matter your skill level,” said Mac Stanley, BCRS Athletics Coordinator. “Players of all skill levels enjoy the low-stress, relaxed atmosphere of play just as much as discussing the game with their teammates over drinks and snacks at their favorite restaurant after the match.”

Registration is $25 per player through May 28; if spaces are still available, they are $35 each beginning on May 29. Teams are coed and consist of at least six players, with at least two male and two female players on the court during game play. Each team will play two matches every week (about 45-60 minutes of exercise) with each win and loss factoring into team standings. Registration fees include an official team shirt and help offset the cost of independent professional referees and field maintenance.
