Updated at 8:30 p.m. on April 30 to reflect reopening of seven river parks and Collier Cove Nature Preserve.

Buncombe County and other local partners are taking measures to prepare for the potential spread of the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19, which includes considering the safety of our park visitors and recreation program participants.

Until further notice:

  • All Buncombe County playgrounds, picnic shelters, restrooms, and some other spaces are closed to the public. Athletic field permits are canceled.

  • All picnic shelter rentals are canceled through July 4 and no new reservations will be accepted. Existing rentals can be rescheduled or issued a 100% credit or refund. Please email parks@buncombecounty.org for assistance.

We will continue to monitor the situation and communicate any modifications in a timely manner. The latest local preparedness information and news on COVID-19 can be found here.
