Great Library Events for the Whole Family in September

The Buncombe County Public Library system is a great place to look for fun activities for the entire family. Here are just a few of their upcoming events for September 2016.

  • Tuesday, September 20 at 6:30pm
  • Weaverville Library
  • Free Film Series on a Long Day’s Journey Into Night.
  • This 1962 classic featuring Katherine Hepburn, Sir Ralph Richardson and Jason Robards takes place in one day in the life of the outwardly  “loving” yet dysfunctional Tyrone Family at their Connecticut seaside summer home.
  • Wednesday, September 21 at 3:30pm
  • Pack Memorial Library
  • Makers and Shakers event on STAR Lab – the inflatable planetarium.
  • In this event the Colburn Earth Science Museum will visit the library with their inflatable planetarium, a great event for kids aged 5 and up.
  • Thursday, September 22 from 6 – 7:30pm
  • Pack Memorial Library
  • OnTrack Financial Education and Counseling Preventing Identity Theft Class
  • In this class you’ll learn how it happens, identify popular fraud and scam techniques, learn how to prevent identity theft, and explain what to do if you’re a victim of identity theft.
  • On Tuesday, September 27 at 7pm
  • Weaverville Library
  • An American Tragedy Lecture on “A Long Day’s Journey Into Night.”
  • A talk by Nancy Lewis, retired English Professor about one of America’s Greatest dramatists, Eugene O’Niel. It’s a powerful exploration into the dynamics of family and the nature of the tragic experience.

Now those are just a small handful of the events taking place at the Buncombe County Library System. They also feature weekly storytimes, book clubs for adults, game days, laughter yoga, and more every month.
